THRANDUIL AND ORCRIST by QuelleElenath

*King Thranduil and Thorin might not have had the best kind of relationship. With the long and complex history between the ancient elves and dwarves, it was inevitable that the two kings started off by being wary of each other. Their race and their culture had come between them from the very beginning. As a matter of fact, there are some who might even go as far as to say that the Elvenking hated the mighty dwarf. But that couldn't be further from the truth. While the two kings do have their differences, the Elvenking had always respected Thorin for he is not only a noble warrior and a worthy opponent; but also a great King under the Mountain if he was given the chance to reign. But alas, as fate had dictated, Thorin did not live to see such a day. His time was cut short but his tale will forever be remembered by all his kins and those who have known him as the noble and mighty Thorin Oakenshield, King Under the Mountain. King Thranduil has always been a forgiving person. When Thorin passed on, the Elvenking could not help but feel sorry for the dwarf. He wished that things did not have to end that way. The Elvenking could not do much but to pay his respects to the dwarf, from one King to another. He could only lay the Orcrist by Thorin's side and hope that Thorin can finally have his well-deserved peace.

I would like to take this opportunity to wish the actor of Thorin Oakenshield, the talented Richard Crispin Armitage, (born on 22 August 1971), a very Happy Birthday. May he be blessed with a wonderful birthday and life.

Wow! Beautiful. And it says in the book that Thranduil aka the Elvenking did lay Orcist on Thorin's tomb. This is amazing.
